Euro-Zone Retail Sales on Monthly Basis Increase by 0.6%, on Annual Basis Fell by 1.7% - 4.7.2012


The Retail Sales in May for the 17-nation area rose by 0.6 per cent compared with the previous month according to Eurostat. Additionally the last increase in Retail Sales was greater than the 0.2 per cent rise anticipated by economists and better for the Euro-area than the revised 1.4 per cent drop in April. Compared with May 11, the Retail Sales declined by 1.7 per cent in May 12 which is a greater drop than projected by economists but a less decrease than the 3.4 per cent annual decline in April.
The Euro fell slightly on Wednesday trading from 1.2606 to 1.2575 against the greenback and bounced up after the release of Retail Sales Index by 10 points, it was lastly seen at 1.2586.
